Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is the kind of role-playing game that respects the fact you're playing on a phone. Battles are turn-based, so you can pause mid-fight, put the phone down, and pick it up an hour later without losing your place. The story follows a group of wanderers rebuilding a burned-out town, and it's genuinely written, not just filler between fights.
Combat leans on positioning and elemental weaknesses rather than grinding. I liked that levelling up felt like a choice each time, since you spend points across a small skill tree instead of watching numbers auto-climb. Everything downloads once and runs offline afterward, which made it my go-to game on flights.
It's not a short experience. There's a meaty main quest plus side stories that are worth chasing. If you miss console-style RPGs, this scratches that itch on a small screen.
